#childnotbride SENATOR AHMED SANI YARIMAN BAKURA REPLIES HIS ENEMIES
''Nigeria has many uncountable problems and none of them is early marriage. As a matter of fact early marriage the solution to about half of our problems. For those who wonder if I can give my daughter(s) out in marriage at the age of 9 or 13, I tell you most honestly, I can give her out at the age of 6 if I want to and its not your business. This is because I am a Muslim and I follow the example of the best of mankind, Muhammad ﺻَﻠَّﻰ ﺍﻟﻠَّﻪُ ﻋَﻠَﻴْﻪِ ﻭَﺳَﻠَّﻢَ .
In Islam, marriage is not only about sex, it is about family and helping one another in achieving their goals, which is the attainment of Paradise.
In Islam, a girl can be given out in marriage as early as 6 years old, but consummation of the marriage can only be done when the girl becomes physically mature and she gives her consent to it because unlike English law, it is not permissible for a man to rape his wife in Shari'ah Law.
So what can anybody tell me?
~ I live in a city where young girls at the age of 12 have already became serial fornicators and cannot count the number of man they've had sex with.
~ I live in a City where primary school children disvirgin themselves behind toilets on Valentine day.
~ I live in a city where young girls flood the street at night looking for men that would give them N500 to have sex with them.
~ I live in a city where parents send their daughters out overseas to prostitute and send dollars down.
~ I live in a City where Government officials pick undergraduates from University car parks with Coastal Buses to wild sex parties.
~ I live in a city where abortion is so common that even a Chemist shore owner can perform abortion with just N2,500.
These are your daughters, and this should worry you and not Yerima's private matters. So ask me again why I support early marriage and I will slap the Jinn out of your head''.
Sentiment precludes human mind from reasoning. Less shed up our bondage of subjectivity and reason objectively. Some fill marriage is only ok when done at age 18 and above, but at 18 some girls are mentally and physically immature for matrimonial life, while at same time you see some at less then 18 but are more matured, thus can adapt better to matrimonial life. In Israel,Spain,Mexico, Panama,Cuba, and many other Western Countries, legal age of marriage is from 14 yrs upward(in Columbia is even from 12 yrs upward). In some USA state its from 14 upward(Alabama is 14,Kansan, Indiana, Idaho, etc is 15). These Countries are not stupid to make such provision in their laws. So itsnt about religion as many want to portray here, for none of these countries is Muslim nation. I know some girls of 14-15 that a fully grown physically(mentally maturity isn't fully established even at 18),and also know some girls of 18 and above that are much smaller. Medically girls mature(mensuration, and body development)at different ages. Some earlier, others late. That is the reason Islam NEVER mention age at which a lady should marry, but allow that to be determined base on girls nature which can be influenced by inheritance, environmental, social, and nutritional factors,as well as parents/girl's wish. Islamically a girl has right to refuse to marry a given person or refuse early marriage and her parents are to obliged if they truly practice Islam(hadith). We need to understand, in olden days no formal schools, thus parents and husbands teach their children/wives. As such they marry their children at early age for husband to teach and train them. Nowadays we have formal schools, and more husbands that are less responsible. I fill its better we have a given age at which girl should legally marry(Islam does,nt forbid that), so as to allow them atleast complete Secondary school(majority finish Secondary school at around 16yrs)
That will serve us better for we will have more female Scholars, Doctors, nurses, and other scientist. At same time I fill criminalising early marriage will not help matters, for many parents prefer Islamiyya(Islamic with little western education schools, very common in Kano and other northern states)in which children graduate at around 15-16 years and got married their after. They are Nigerians and have right to live their lives the way they want base on their culture and finances. Govt. should make its school more attractive, by giving TRUE FREE QUALITY EDUCATION, and better employment opportunities, that could attract people who prefer local Islamiyya schools to send their children to Govt schools in which they can further their education to Higher institution. In most Countries legal marriage age ranges from 12-21 yrs. What is your view on this?
I tend to wonder that those many countries that have 18 years timeline aren't stupid either.
